Education
For most that know me, I am quite nerdy. I have always been a bit of a brainiac, being very inquisitive from a very young age. I graduated with the national honor society from high school despite being a teenage mother. I went on with my education to accumulate any certification, license, and training that interest me. I have many credentials to build my portfolio as a business woman.
My first training and certification was as a tax preparer, at the age of 18. That lead me to getting a certification for bookkeeping, wanting to understand business taxes more. At that time in life, I also was required to have a ServSafe certification for my job, so I got that. I then went on to get a certification in event planning and decorating, falling in love with it while doing my children birthday parties. I realized, I was kind of all over the place with my credentials and needed to narrow my focus into what I really want my career to be.
By this time, years have gone by, as I was really into working I started my credentials goals again.
But while working in management for years, I realized what I wanted to do, I want to one day have my own accounting business. With that goal in mind, I took the first step by getting my notary certification. I then went on to get my associates degree in accounting graduating with the honor society once again. A longtime goal from the age of 21 was to get my real estate license, which I completed while working on my degree. Real estate has always been a passion for me since childhood, when I would go to work with my grandfather. That’s when I realized that I should get a degree in hospitality management and combined that with my real estate; knowing that commercial real estate is my end goal and I would love to have real estate investments in different hospitality businesses. I am currently working on my degree in hospitality management and intend on going even further and getting my masters in accounting.
The fact that I am unable to use my credentials the way I want at this point, for my only full time job is my motherhood; it is actually beneficial for my years of experience because I make sure to keep my credentials current.
Stay tuned for my progress and updates!

Double Up
26 Nov 2025 09:38
In the last two years I started working on my hospitality management degree and I was able to complete my grant writing course. I did however take a break to rejuvenate myself and focus on being a mother to my latest addition to my family. After a year of an education break I resumed my studies this fall and it has been an eventful semester. I did however accept the obstacles and I am proud of myself for overcoming the adversities that were presented to me. I am proud to say I maintained at least a B average in all of courses and feel confident about the finishing of my degrees. I am completing a double major in accounting and hospitality management and I am in my junior year; so I am half way there. I am determined to complete my educational goals and will be working on my masters in accounting to become a certified public accountant once I graduate.

The semester is over and I can finally take a breath! I was overwhelmed at first after obstacles kept coming at me but I knew if I kept pushing I would see my way through. I am a bit of an overachiever so I was aiming for getting at least a 3.0 GPA, in which I was successful at doing. Well actually a 2.98, but I am proud of myself for the amount of adversities I had to face at the beginning of the semester. I am one semester closer to my goal, and feel that I did well despite everything else going on in my life. Another twelve credit hours for next semester and I will be in my senior year; that's all I keep telling myself. One step at a time is something I have mastered and I know that I will eventually make it to my destination. I really encourage myself everyday and know that discipline is what get the best results not speed. I am going to enjoy my holiday break and spend some quality time loving on myself and children. The next three weeks will consist of me relaxing and being in good spirits in preparation for my next semester. My goal for the next semester is all A's that way I will be over a 3.5 GPA and have eligibility for as many scholarships and funds as possible; I also really want to make the dean's list so I am determined to stay focused and not let anything set me off course.
