Caregiver
I experienced a great postpartum depression with my last pregnancy, having gone through a traumatic emergency delivery. I was now a caregiver to my baby along with being a mother. Thankfully I was some what mentally prepared for the circumstances because my mother has been nursing my whole life and have taught me things along the way. I was new to it but it felt very comfortable knowing I had a little pre-exposure. My child was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, meaning the motor skills and physical abilities will be different.
As much as I feel I am just being an involved mother, I know I am essentially the caregiver. I administer medicines, feed and take care of my child in all aspects, along with coordinating the appointments and specialists. It is definitely a job and requires a lot of my time on a daily basis.
I am thankful for the quality time I am able to spend with my children. I am blessed that my child survived everything and just grateful that I am here to tell the story as well. More of that journey and awareness will be coming soon.

My baby is now six years old and school age, however I have spent the past three years trying to find the best school for her. I am very protective of my children and I am sensitive to any mistakes that is made when handling her. She is non verbal so she has no way of communicating if anything happens. I am so happy I have the opportunity to be at home and available for my family, for now I am home schooling. I have figured out a schedule for the both of us, me taking classes along with being a teacher to her. She is very interested in learning just like her mom, I am excited to see her learn and take in information. We get our outside time daily by going to the park or for a walk or going to run errands. Also we will be receiving at home therapy to ensure she will be getting the same services she received in school. So far it has been going well, just want to implement more activities outside of the house.

My baby girl have many appointments and see many different specialist on a regular basis. I have to assure that I stay on top of her needs having to see therapists and an assortment of doctors. When she has all of appointments scheduled she have several appointments a week, causing me to be a coordinator. Good thing I am a huge planner so it comes a little easier for me. I am working on my punctuality for I always find myself behind schedule, but I have grown to learn that I need to keep a strict schedule. I now make sure that I have all appointments written down on my calendar to make sure I don't forget.
